Title: 31 May 2009?!
Description: Found this at Amazon.com...

tjoeltje - September 13, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
I was looking for Beyond Good & Evil items on Amazon.com when I found this.
http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Good-Evil-2-X...21334152&sr=8-3

Will it be true? Oh God, I hope someone knows more!

BG&E Voyager - September 14, 2008 04:56 PM (GMT)
 I love Amazon, but preordering a game this early seems kinda odd  Oh, and if you notice, Beyond Good & Evil on the PS2 is now Greatest Hits!

Ugly Duck - September 14, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
Won't happen. The game is in Pre-production. Even if they hae started developing since that trailer, I would sincerely hope that they didn't complete the entire game in a matter of a few months.

Absolutely no way is this true. If the game comes out on that date - hell, if the game comes out before 2010, I'll give all my copies of BG&E away for free.

amskitty214 - September 15, 2008 12:26 AM (GMT)
I agree with Ugly Duck.

Or, if they DO happen to come out with it on that date, they had better have more than 12 people working on it. But if it ends up like Sonic the Hedgehog 2006...I'd kill myself. And Michel Ancel for letting it happen. StH2006 was a complete unfinished failure.

tjoeltje - September 15, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
Ok, that's true, yeah... I didn't think about that because I was really happy at the moment I saw it.
Oh, found this today...

Heh, that's good news at least. Anyway, in my opinion Christophe Heral shouldn't be the one person which is responsibility for the music to the game. I know that he's good, but a small group of specialist can do much more.

I thought Christophe Héral was... a man :o

Luke-54 - September 15, 2008 07:09 PM (GMT)
FUCK! My mistake!! I though i typed "he". This happens when i'm thinking about everything except what I'm doing now. :P

Slavka - September 15, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
I read on the BG&E MySpace blog that they hoped to get the game out late 2010, but that it was unlikely. I believe it also mentioned that they were using an existing engine, which would cut down production times.

Late 2010?! You gotta be jokin' mate! I'm expecting this game on Christmas 2009!
Oh, and welcome to the biggest community in whole universe, Slavka ;)

Fomorian - September 16, 2008 08:21 AM (GMT)
I'd prefer early 2010 or on the third quarter of 2009, on Christmas there are always tons of hyped games, so BG&E 2 would "surprisingly" not sell well again. Hell, if Unreal Tournament 3 had low sales in that time, I don't want to know how bad it would be for BG&E 2.

tjoeltje - September 16, 2008 08:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah, that's true. Gosh, I hope BGE2 will sell very good, maybe Ubisoft will really make the third BGE then...

MrStalker - September 16, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
No way man... no friggin way...

In my experience, my favorite game music has always come from one person, maybe two when I think about one game.

Shame on you ! Héral is wonderful ! No Héral no BG&E :D

Well, maybe I wouldn't go that far, but I agree, Christophe Heral's music really did add something to the game. (I should know, I'm listening to it right now :D )

Nimitz_3d - September 17, 2008 07:34 PM (GMT)
Graphical style changes while Héral change stuffs in music, he adds "arabians" violins and architectures became more Moorish (don't know if the translation is right ^^). But he makes a great work on musics, sound design and he influences graphical style of the game. Without Héral, BG&E won't be the same BG&E, maybe it could be better than the version we know or worst. But for sure, it's not "Héral's game" ^^.

This doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. Check this out: http://www.gameshop.se/?page=description&id=49361. (The text says "One of the world's most wished-for sequels!")

:] It's no lie!

(I am the world, and I wish for this sequel. :P )

Slavka - September 19, 2008 05:00 PM (GMT)
Here's yet another pre-order, this time with an even earlier release date:

1st May?!

MrStalker - September 19, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
Okey, either retailers have begun smoking pot, or they know something we don't. Usually they don't put products up for pre-order if they don't have confirmation from the publisher that the game is going to be released. It simply wouldn't be good for buisness if you got a ton of pre-orders and then have to cancel them all because the game doesn't exist. But then again, that BGE2 will be released any sooner then the end of 2009 seems to me extremly unlikely. This is some weird shit... and btw, why do they put it up for PC? Has anybody said anything about BGE2 for PC?

And if, god wills it, BGE2 is due to May 2009, somebody got to give Ubisoft's marketing department a big foot up their ass, because they are gonna make the same mistake as last time.

This is why I REALLY want to write a letter to Ubisoft. I wrote an email to GameInformer but I doubt that'll do any good. I mean, maybe if Ubi realized how crappy their marketing skills were, they'd do something to change it. Or, for all we know, they DO know, and they're planning on not sucking.

Slavka - September 20, 2008 01:21 AM (GMT)
I would say that they really don't know, seeing as they blamed the poor sales of BG&E on it being 'too hard', or something to that extent. Which means that Ubi is pretty unobservant...

Anyway, back on topic - I think it's fairly unlikely we'll see BG&E2 in May. It hasn't even been in production that long, and to be perfectly honest, I'd rather wait 'til 2010 for a quality game than get a rushed sequel in 2009. It does seem strange that a bunch of places are putting up pre-orders so soon, though...

BG&E Voyager - September 20, 2008 04:00 AM (GMT)
If i'm not mistaken, this happens a lot with certain games, like Silent Hill V. There were pre-order dates when the game wasn't even close to being done.

I still see pre-orders of Duke Nukem Forever somewhere :P

Yeah, but it's a little difference between long-running best-seller series and BGE2. That is, Silent Hill V not being made was about as likely as BGE2 being made.

That’s my thought on it too, it just wouldn’t be the same. Héral is a crucial part of BG&E.
.....................

And as far as BG&E2 coming out on may 31st 09, I really doubt it, I’d bet money against it and I don’t bet on anything unless there’s a 75% or greater chance of me being right. ^_^

MrStalker - September 22, 2008 11:16 AM (GMT)
Well it seems retailers have begun smoking pot. I e-mailed GameShop about it and they basically said they've based their information on an internet article. Reliable sources is the shit.

Zixinandros - September 22, 2008 12:38 PM (GMT)
Pay no heed. Amazon did this shit with Duke Nukem Forever as well.

Ugly Duck - October 9, 2008 10:16 PM (GMT)
This isn't proof, I just thought I'd post this because it's relevant. IMDB is listing Beyond Good and Evil 2 as a 2009 release.

It could be that Amazon works based on fiscal dates. We're currently in the 2009 fiscal year, if we're going by the words that Wiki whispers to me when no-one's looking so that I appear cleverer than I really am, so it's possible that this is just a place holder for the "second half" of that fiscal year. But it is still interesting to watch this unfold...

MrStalker - October 16, 2008 10:06 PM (GMT)
IMDB is as reliable as wikipedia. I.e. not very.

conan - October 17, 2008 05:11 AM (GMT)
Wikipedia is not too unreliable. It may get one or two facts wrong or slightly askew, but most of the info will have a source. If it doesn't "citation needed" is usually added next the information. If an entire page is lacking citation than there will be a message at the top of the page that says more sources are needed.

They also rank the pages according to how reliable they are. And the if you ever look at the discussion page for an article you'll see that they take fact checking very seriously.

MrStalker - October 18, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
I've got over 10 000 edits at wikipedia. I know.

BG&E Voyager - October 18, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
Yeah I think Wiki sometimes gets too much flack. When I really think about it, it's amazing how people from all over the world have created an entire encylopedia on virtually everything, even the most mundane things.

MrStalker - October 18, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
Yeah, sure, it's amazing. I know. But as a reliable source it's useless. Especially regarding crystal balling.

helpusfightthegoodfight01 - December 31, 2008 05:12 PM (GMT)
I'm sorta hopin' it will and won't come out in 2009 coz' if it does we get to play it sooner but if it comes out in say 2010 it probably won't seem as rushed and will be more fun to play but we will be waiting longer.

kajarxxx - January 1, 2009 01:47 PM (GMT)
I founded out from the ign.com that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is going to be released on December 31,2009.

MrStalker - January 1, 2009 02:23 PM (GMT)
Seems a bit more realistic, but still, where did they get that information from? The game hasn't been officially announced yet so not from Ubisoft I'm sure.

WHY IS IT ONLY FOR XBOX 360 AND PLAYSTATION 3!!!???? iS THAT ONLY FOR PRE-ORDERS???!!!! :headbanger: :angryashell:
:handjeklap: i CAN'T WAIT TILL IT COMES OUT!!!! (AND THEY make a REAL trailer for it.)

JerichoMccoy - March 14, 2009 02:59 AM (GMT)
I say, do not, no matter what information comes out..

Unless Ubisoft says so, do not take any of the Date lines coming out seriously.

Estimated guesses, rumors, and just giddiness for hearing about a BG&E sequel may induce some sort of date out of thin air but for now:

Lay back, relax, keep working on that Fan Service, and wait for the OFFICIAL NEWS when the game will come out.

Eager kids these days... don't have any patience.
