Title: Next Gen Consoles?

Kenninator - May 31, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
What next gen consoles are you thinking about getting? Me? probably the Revolution and the PS3.

Ugly Duck - May 31, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)
i have this recurring problem of saying i'm going to get/buy all these wonderful consoles - when the price comes down, then reconsider when the new ones come out. so i end up sticking with my PC allthe way down the line. however, for the time being, i'm going to go with the 360. it looks really fly. like some kind of hi-techy japanese spaceship gadget. i like gadgets. :)

Me, the "Revolution" of course! I mean, after Nitendo bought the rights to use my trade-marked name, I just have to endorse thier console!

Naw really, I think they are rushing the 360, meaning I think that it'll be worse than the newer models. Why? Because as soon as you buy anything, it's obsolete. Almost with the week, a new, better technology has been devoloped to make your technology non-cutting edge.

Given the near year differece between the launch of the Revolution next December and the Launch of the 360 this December, I think it'll be lacking.

My PS2 recently broke. Less than 6 months after I bought it. Now, after being a Nintendo kinda guy, this was a suprise. Because, after all, Nintendo products never break.

With my recent frustration with the chance I gave sony I just decided to let them be.

I'll stick to my roots. I am confident the Revolution will indeed be as effective as our Revolution in reviving the Golden Days of Gaming, a la SNES.

That's basicaly why i want the Revolution, and i'm gonna wait untill they get the bugs out of the PS3. :P

Rocky - June 1, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
At this point, the only one I'm definitely getting is the Revolution. The 360 needs complete backwards compatibility and games that interest me, and the PS3 just needs the games. Revolution, though, excites me almost as much as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

G.A.Pster - June 1, 2005 07:54 AM (GMT)
I’m gonna buy all three (unless Nintendo goes with a bizarre controller) once I buy all the games for my PS2, Xbox, and GC, and once the next gen consoles get cheaper.

FutureFish - June 1, 2005 08:04 AM (GMT)
Revolution. Im fed up with more buttons and slightly prettier graphics for another £150. Innovate!

mtvcdm - June 5, 2005 02:53 AM (GMT)
Three words: Vive la Revolution.

Well, actually, I note how at E3 everyone said the PS3 blew people away, and whacked Nintendo for not saying anything about the Revolution except the backwards-compatibility, yet when it comes time to choose a side and declare what you're going to buy, nearly everyone I've seen, here included, has said Revolution. PS3 has gotten some mentions, and Xbox360 is more or less left out in the cold by anyone not planning on getting more than one (the other one invariably being the Revolution). So... if people stay true to that, Nintendo isn't going to stay in 3rd for too much longer.

Ugly Duck - June 5, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
well, i can say that the only reason i mentioned the 360 was because it's the only one i've actually seen. *points to post on the Movie forums* i haven't actually seen anything from the PS3 and i hadn't even heard of the "Revolution" until i came to this thread. i still don't know what it does.

Rocky - June 6, 2005 12:24 AM (GMT)
Things about the Nintendo Revolution we know:
-Complete backwards compatibility with GameCube software
-Wifi capabilities built-in, will work out of the box
-Free online service with online SSBM at launch (there are other online titles, but I don't know them right now)
-Gyroscope controls (this means that in some games, moving the controller will influence gameplay, extent of this is unknown)
-Hookup to T.V.'s as well as computer monitors
-Emulators for NES, SNES, and N64 built-in, with software from these past systems available for download through Nintendo, cost is unknown

Judging by these, the Revolution does have lots of potential. Supposedly, there's a lot more that Nintendo is not telling us because they're afraid other companies will copy their ideas. Seeing as how several ideas of Nintendo developers have been copied in the past (analog stick, rumble, Z-targeting), I don't blame them.

mtvcdm - June 6, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah, we likely won't get much on the Revolution until the other two are released and it's too late to snipe Nintendo.

Rocky - June 6, 2005 04:29 AM (GMT)
We'll probably know a little more come Spaceworld.

FutureFish - June 6, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)
Spaceworld?

Rocky - June 6, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
Japan's E3.

mtvcdm - June 7, 2005 11:56 AM (GMT)
I thought Japan's E3 was the Tokyo Game Show.

FutureFish - June 7, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
Ok game festival. Thanks. REVOLUTION!

Rocky - June 7, 2005 08:18 PM (GMT)

I thought Japan's E3 was the Tokyo Game Show.

I thought they were the same thing...

Ugly Duck - June 9, 2005 10:39 AM (GMT)
hmm. interesting to see what they are offering, but still a bit dissapointing when you consider that all the other companies are making their consoles compatable with as many formats as possible. this one just seems to be compatable with nintendo stuff.

Haw - June 10, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
I don't know if I'll get any of them to be honest. There's only so much room in the house and if the 360 doesn't have proper backwards compatibility then I may refrain from purchsing, despite the calls of The Elders Scrolls 4 and stick with my Xbox. Apperantly 'Xbox 360 will be backward-compatible with top-selling Xbox games'. What's that supposed to mean?!? That it only plays Xbox games that went platinum or something?! If they're going to do backwards compatibility then the should do it properly. I don't care if I can play Halo 2 (which had such a bad story that it was painful) on it, I want to play BG&E! Some of my most prised games were not best sellers, they sank miserably because of terrible marketing. If I can't play all my old Xbox games on it, then I can't see it coming into the house.

Rocky - June 12, 2005 02:15 AM (GMT)
Same here. I could care less about Halo 2, if I can play Beyond Good & Evil and Crimson Skies, I'll be all right.

FutureFish - June 18, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
Crimson skies.. I loved that. the one dam game where you could find the enemy.

Unlike starwars space games.. just waiting for a tie to go across the screen..

Kenninator - June 20, 2005 10:12 PM (GMT)
Yah, Halo 2 was only good for the multiplayer.
