Title: Things that don't make sense
Description: Anything in BGE that doesnt make sense

Teaser92 - May 10, 2009 06:31 PM (GMT)
How does Black Isle have electricity when no one pays its bill?

If the Mammago Garage is on the Black market and therefoe illegal why is it so open and easy to acess?

How does Jade know a quote from the Carlson and Peeters manuel?

How does Double H know how to fix the Beluga when it has been hidden from Jade for 20 years?

At the end in the photos shown during the credits the kids are shown to be back at the lighthouse, but if Jade rescued all the Hyllians why are they not with their parents?

The_Evil_Reaper - May 10, 2009 07:14 PM (GMT)
1. Maybe it's paid by the IRIS network. Or it has it's own generator. I do agree it doesn't make sense, but there's lots of places in games where there's electricity and no one pays the bills.

2. Only to regular clients like Jade, the Rhinos know they can be trusted.

3. She learned it from HH, he says it somewhere in the game(maybe only in one of his non-spoken lines, where you just see text).

4. Er... Jade fixes it right? It only needed the flight stabilizer...

5. Good point. I guess they could just hang around there during the day(when their parents are at work), or that some were already orphans before the Alpha sections came(this I believe is actually true). Also, I don't think Jade saved "everyone" since there's those biocanister with "low biological signals" that are thrown into ZE FIRE!! :B

Well those are my answers, but they're based on speculation.

Teaser92 - May 14, 2009 03:02 PM (GMT)
Well I also spotted this weird goof at the end when the Hyllians are being resurected Mei is there being brought back to life. Then 5 seconds later she walks throught he door....

if you can think of anything else in BGE that doesn't make sense, feel free to post here. :handjeklap:

The_Evil_Reaper - May 14, 2009 03:16 PM (GMT)
Actually we already have this topic, but I never noticed Meï in that scene. Even after you mentioned it, I had some trouble finding her! Good find! :D

Teaser92 - May 14, 2009 05:04 PM (GMT)
Well it took me a while before i finally spotted her. It was after i had completed the game for about the 13th time and I would show you that bit but I don't know how to do that. If you look carefully in the top right corner at the end scene you should eventually see her green trousers.

BG&E Voyager - May 14, 2009 08:14 PM (GMT)
I believe Double H knows how to fix the Beluga (or at least knows about flight stabilizers and such) because he used the same type of ship on a campaign once.

Teaser92 - May 15, 2009 04:36 PM (GMT)
Ok here are a couple of other things for you to speculate on: :superior:

1. Where is Double H's S.A.C ? And where does he put his hammer and helmet when he isn't using them?

2. Why are several animals mentioned that you don't have to photograph. For instance when Jade tells Pey'j that she is going to Black Isle he says "well i'm sticking to you like bees on honey" you don't photograph bees why? Also when you photograph the blue scorpion fish Little miss science centre says they are from the same family as the scorpion fish suggesting they are two different species?

3 If HH is ex-army why does he still carry the training manuel and wear the armour?

1) I suggest it's on HH's back (as a backpack), underneath the armor. Where else does her hammer come from, perchance?

2) Beats me. One more for the fuel: "I'd be a monkey's uncle (nothing personal, Jade)..." Where are the monkeys? How do you suppose to win over japanese audiences of you don't have a monkey?

3) Perhaps he bought them with his own money and is reluctant to let go of 'em. Perhaps he went AWOL while on his armor, gaining a strange benefit of blending in with actual soldiers if need be.

1. Maybe they just couldn't be bothered to take out the power lines, and some power gets diverted there anyway. :P But I kinda like the "IRIS uses it as a training ground, so they pay" theory...

2. Beats me. Heck, they even advertise! :P Clearly, the rhinos aren't so good at the whole "secrecy" thing...

3. The quote she uses is one HH says a couple times in the factory--most notably, right after he joins you in the boss fight. She probably remembered it from there. So there's an explanation for that one!

4. He probably snuck a look at the repair disc when she wasn't looking, or read over her shoulder. :P Or, you know, there's the fact that there's a flight stabilizer sitting right there on the desk, and the "FLIGHT STABILIZER GOES HERE" bits are open (and empty), and he probably went "Oh! This probably needs a flight stabilizer." And if they wanted to get to the moon, it'd need a space engine anyway. :P

5. The Hyllians on the walls were still probably somewhat "fresh." The DomZ possibly threw them out when they were too dried-up to provide any more tasty glowy life energy. Saves space, y'know. :P Also, the proposed theory that some of them might have been orphaned other ways. Maybe their parents just got straight-up killed by a meteor or somesuch, and not taken.

6. It's a temporal anomaly that exists inside itself. :P That's why you can't see it! ...Or, you know, not. He always reaches for his side, so it's probably underneath his tunic. Obviously, his helmet and hammer are in it. :P

7. No one ever said we saw ALL the animals on Hillys. (Well, science lady did, but she probably meant in the immediate area.) They could be outside the city, in others. Or other planets. Most planets are more biodiverse than that, 'specially with humans bringing stuff around. :P

8. You can take the soldier out of the army, but you can't take the army out of the soldier. B)

Teaser92 - May 16, 2009 10:37 AM (GMT)
i don't want to sound like I'm picky about these these things. After i have played a game a few times i go back and try to find various things that don't make sense. When I find them they niggle away at the back of my head while I try to find a suitable solution for them :D

Well, he was on a dangerous mission and all, some protection wouldn't hurt him

Teaser92 - July 12, 2009 05:34 PM (GMT)
Okay I have found one more thing, it may take a bit of explaining time:

Picture the scene:

You are in the hovercraft, about to do the factory mission for Iris. You shoot down the roboguard and enter. You dock the hovercraft and climb up the pipes and vents until you get to the entrance. You photograph the barcode and send the picture to the governor.

NOW here's the bit that makes no sense:

The governoe tells you that it is the code they deciphered a few days ago. And if he hasn't changed it it's still that.

In other words its the same code that Double H used to get in...

Why did the alphas not change the code?

Because Alphas are STOOPID.

That reminds me, why on earth would they undress Pey'j for transport, if Jade finds him fully clothed back on the moon?
Alphas aren't only gay, also zoophilic. :suspicious:

They re-dressed him once they got him to the moon. They must've decided there was only so much they could stomach... :P

 Great comic! Really cracked me up, one of your best, no doubt.

And I never really thought about that, but that is weird! Plus, he has his little marvels "the Jetboots" back on :P Maybe he had an extra pair...

BG&E Voyager - July 13, 2009 05:15 AM (GMT)
I assume that the Alphas figured that since they captured Double H, the code wouldn't get out anyways and they wouldn't have to change it. Either their lazy and/or recoding is hard :P

The_Evil_Reaper - July 13, 2009 11:41 AM (GMT)
Maybe they wanted Jade to break in? So they could capture her?

"Let's go find some hot chicks in the new body delivery and undress them for packing"

 Still cracking up about it.

Teaser92 - July 14, 2009 05:57 PM (GMT)
LOL Alexa's comic had me in stitches. The interesting thing is that it is something you can imagine the Alpha's doing.

In the factory after you rescue HH, he falls through the vent and gos DOWN. Jade and Pey'j take the elevator UP. The HH joins her after they go UP....

How'd he get UP?

Oh and another thing....

How'd the volcano on Black Isle end up filled with water?

When you watch the Survielance M-disk that you find in the factory, the Alpha on the disk mentions a jumpsuit that Pey'j was apparantly wearing....WHY?

Denouement - July 14, 2009 06:22 PM (GMT)
1) He said he'd find his own way out. He apparently did. Probably through air vents or something. :P

2) Actually, it's fairly common for dead volcanos to have their craters turn into lakes and such. Rain, storms, possibly fissures in a rock... A lot of time + bowl-shaped depression = pond, at least. XD

3) I actually know the REAL answer to that one! The character designs used in the game right now aren't the original designs; they've all changed. I'm sure you've seen the early Jade, who was more "pointy" and wore cow-print pants. But she's not the only one. Original Pey'j had shorter tusks, a more angular face, and... he wore a jumpsuit! That bit of dialogue was probably recorded before the designs changed, that's why it still mentions it.

Teaser92 - July 14, 2009 07:07 PM (GMT)
I'm probably going to think of more ridiculous ones now.... :P

Ok then here's one:

The entrance you use to get into the factory is not the real entrance.. where is the real entrance?

The_Evil_Reaper - July 14, 2009 07:57 PM (GMT)
@ Denoument: In Hillys it never rains. Unless you count meteor showers. This is one of the things that bugs me, a water planet without rain.

@ Teaser: I don't know, seems to me that if you're an Alpha, you can enter through there. But then you'd have to fix the elevator...

I think the real entrance is outside the reaches of the game, those laser watchers stop you (which they actually could have used to stop you from ever entering the factory). And I believe the roof of the factory is a landing dock, so there's an entrance as well.

Barahir - July 15, 2009 06:11 AM (GMT)
In the Black Ýsle how Hahn didnt recognise PeyJ's voice?I am pretty sure he talked on the taxi at least one time so Hahn should have recognised his voice.

The_Evil_Reaper - July 15, 2009 02:26 PM (GMT)
Perhaps he didn't really think about it or he didn't recognize it. When Pey'j is on the radio even Jade needs some time to recognize him. And Hahn says "Your uncle, our chief?" as if he's surprised. Here's the Youtube link.

I guess he just didn't recognize him. Or he refused to believe they were led by a pig.

EDIT:
Now I have a few questions:
If Double H was the main Iris agent before Jade, and made pictures. Where's his camera? Did the Alpha's take it? And why didn't they take him to the moon? Was he just bait?

Barahir - July 15, 2009 04:05 PM (GMT)
I believe HH has got a camera but it is not important and special like Jade's camera, they would take him to moon with entire victim group so they were waiting for the next transport,Jade and PeyJ came to the factory at just in time and Jade took photos of the transporting of victims but they had PeyJ instead of HH in that transport.
Another question:Jade took a cd which contains the video that Alphas talking about undressing and PeyJ yelling.Couldn't this cd be an evidence?I belive that it can be very handy when revolting the population.

I believe this CD is optional, you don't have to take it. It's in a separate room which you can skip. They probably didn't feel working in into the storyline.

Denouement - July 15, 2009 11:49 PM (GMT)
Yep, it's optional.

I'm guessing HH didn't get moon-shipped because he fought too hard. Unlike Pey'j, who is (not to be dismissive) not as strong, he's big and tough and fought like an angry wildcat. They were "softening him up" for transport when Jade busted him out.

tjoeltje - July 16, 2009 12:06 PM (GMT)
Haha, I like this topic sooo much :P

Ah yes, that's true.

But being put in one of those pods on the moon having your lifesource sucked out of you, doesn't really seem like a carnival to me either.

Teaser92 - July 16, 2009 07:36 PM (GMT)
Well Jade saved HH didn't she? As he says at the end of the factory:

"If it weren't for you then it would have been me they took for a ride in one of their luxury coffins. Return ticket not included."

The_Evil_Reaper - July 16, 2009 07:43 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I guess that's true, but I just wondered why he was so special to be set apart from the other victims.

Teaser92 - July 16, 2009 07:48 PM (GMT)
Maybe he wasn't : maybe they all went through that

Then again the Alphas couldn't risk him escaping and revealing the truth to the Hyllians. So the put hm in the machine, which in HH own words turned his brain to jelly. It could be that they were just trying to wipe his memories. :ahh:

Then just killing him would have sufficed.

And there's no way they all went through that. A broken elevator, an abandoned floor. No way they put the victims there one by one.

My theory is that is his torture might have been to let him reveal information about the IRIS section. Perhaps because he wouldn't crack, they left him in the machine to die/become a zombie with jellybrains.

Teaser92 - July 16, 2009 08:08 PM (GMT)
Yeah but why kill him when the Domz priest could have sucked all the juices out of him? They probably intended to send him to the moon to allow the Domz priest to feed from him.

But still I like your theory about the torture to make him reveal things about the Iris. However if that were the case then how would the Alphas know he was a member of Iris?

The_Evil_Reaper - July 16, 2009 08:45 PM (GMT)
Well, they know it of Jade don't they?
QUOTE

"The traitors of the IRIS network have launched a new terrorist attack"

They just blame it on IRIS, even if it were some vigilante working outside IRIS, it would get the blame nonetheless.

Furthermore, some of the stuff HH had on him might have given it away.

Teaser92 - July 17, 2009 03:37 PM (GMT)
Bear in mind that at the slaughterhouse one of the photos you take has the caption " Tortured human" suggesting that they allgo through that.

XX Humanoid - July 22, 2009 11:45 AM (GMT)
It seems impossible that all victims go through such few torture machines. Maybe only those who could know something important are tortured.

Alexa - July 22, 2009 01:52 PM (GMT)
Funny, I see another reason for this torture machine.
