Title: The movie topic.
Description: Because movies rule the world!

What's the last movie that you saw? Was it any good? Let's just talk about movies. To start things off, you can give your opinion about the last movie(s) you've seen and others can choose to give their own opinions about that movie or give their opinion about a movie they're seen recently. Quite simple really.
I've seen Braindead for the umpteenth time at the Evil Reaper's slumber party, and it was awesome. It's really difficult to see why Peter Jackson was chosen to do Lord of the Rings after you've seen this classic horrormovie. If you like Evil Dead, this is a good choice as well. It's still the goriest movie I've ever seen. The bad acting makes the movie really cheesy, and that's exactly what gives it the right atmosphere as a horrorcomedy.
Team America: World Police was brilliant as well. It was great comedy, although I like Southpark better. And the fact that Samuel L. Jackson gets killed in this movie doesn't help, but that's not something to judge the entire movie on of course, but that still sucked. ;)
And Wallace & Gromit, I'll just copy my little review I made in the freeform topic. I hadn't thought about this topic yet when I posted it there.
Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit was absolutely fantastic. The dry, English humor and the adorable characters made this movie enjoyable beyond any movie I've seen this year, and it made me wonder if even the anticipated(by me anyway) Tim Burton's Corpse Bride can touch this. The humor was great, I smiled the entire frikkin movie, and frequently laughed at the brilliant jokes the movie contains. The characters are really great, and the large variety of facial expressions with these clay figures really help to express their emotions, and make them loveable or (in the villains case) despisable. Wallace is really funny as he tries to invent his way out of trouble, after which Gromit has to try and control the damage Wallace causes. This was the case in the old W&G movies, and it's still the case. Only this time things really get out of hand, when all the vegetables in town are being threatened by the were-rabbit, a result of one of Wallace's experiments. W&G are going to try and capture this monster, and save the annual vegetable contest. The story is very nice and it contains great homages to old classic werewolf movies and movies like King Kong. The thing I like best about this movie is Gromit. He doesn't speak, he doesn't even have a mouth, but he is still the one character in this movie who shows the largest number of different emotions. By just moving his eyebrows and making gestures with his front paws, he can tell you everything what he wants, and I think that's amazing. It makes him adorable, and every time you see him look at someone or a certain situation, it's just a simple gesture or movement of eyebrows that let's the viewer know EXACTLY what Gromit thinks. This movie has a lot of action too, and I wondered very often how some of the scenes were made. The action sequences are not only funny, but they're exciting as well, and things are happening that I would never have expected to see in a stop-motion animated movie. Everything about this movie is great, and the charm of British humor has made me crazy enough to pay for another ticket at the cinema.
And another thing, the movie may be short with only 85 minutes, but it's compensated by a short movie before the W&G movie with the penguins from Madagascar. I haven't seen Madagascar yet, but this short was really hilarious, and a great addition to the W&G movie.

The Great Escape is a good Movie :D
The Great Escape written by James Clavell and W.R. Burnett, and directed by John Sturges is a famous 1963 World War II film, based on a true story about Allied POWs with a record for escaping from POW camps. The Nazis and Gestapo place them in a new more secure German camp, from which they promptly form a plan to break out as many as 250 men.

SteveMcQueen aka Virgil Hilts
The story was inspired by an actual escape from prison camp Stalag Luft III in 1944. While the film condenses various aspects of time and place, a disclaimer claims it to be true to the original as much as possible. This includes all the real-life details of the plans, tunnels, successes and tragic outcome of the "great escape." Paul Brickhill, an inmate of the original camp, wrote an account of the escape under the same name, upon which the film was based. However, despite the presence of the film's high-profile American stars, few Americans were involved in the actual escape. The Americans present were actually serving in either the British or Canadian military (mostly the RAF or RCAF, but John Dodge was in the British army). The POWs were mainly British, Canadian and Australian. (Refer to the prison camp link for more historical details.)
Featuring an all-star cast—including Steve McQueen (whose motorcycle chase is the film's most remembered action scene), Richard Attenborough, James Coburn, James Garner, Charles Bronson, and Donald Pleasence—The Great Escape is regarded as a classic and frequently repeated on television. The march tune that serves as the film's main theme, written by Elmer Bernstein, has also become an easily recognisable classic.

Memento, what a great movie. It was about a guy who has short-term memory loss, like Dory in Finding Nemo. His wive has been killed, and he's after the murderer. To do that, he gets the clues he collects to be tattood on his body. He takes pictures of persons around him to remember them. The brilliant thing about this movie, is that it's told backwards. Basically, the movie goes from the ending to the beginning. That makes it really interesting to watch, and I thought the "ending" was incredible.

Well, I haven't read the novel, but I have seen a very bad cartoon of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. So I know the story and I could see that it would be amazing if it was done correctly, not in that BAD cartoon I saw. By the way, a new trailer is now available, and it seems the lion Aslan officially has been given the voice of Liam Neeson, cool!!!
Here's the trailer:
A flopsiehopsie kewl linky just for ye!!!

Well, all the unexpected stuff happening in the movie just makes it very original. Sometimes I was just completely surprised, or it was totally LMAO, in a good way. It's just a very fun movie. You should see the sequel, not nearly as good, but the opening sequence definitely ROCKS!
Ralexand - October 27, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
Yesterday, i saw "Good Bye, Lenin!" on DvD, a very good film.
Good bye, Lenin! is a German tragic comedy film, released internationally in 2003.
To protect his fragile mother from a fatal shock after a long coma, a young man must keep her from learning that her beloved nation of East Germany as she knew it has disappeared.

WOW thnx for the trailer Denden that film is REALLY cool...a little bit lotr style, but I like it. By the way I saw Bourne Identity....just another action movie :P
Denden666Piek - October 29, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
I saw Gangs of New York just now. With the gorgeous Cameron Diaz...oh and some amazing acting of Leonardo Dicaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis too of course. I can see why the movie didn't win any of the oscars it was nominated for, though. It was a great movie, but not very impressive, except for the awesome role of Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz's looks, but that's not enough to make this movie a classic or anything. But like I said, great movie.
Wazzupdude - October 29, 2005 02:58 PM (GMT)
I've watched The Bourne Supremacy...it isn't a very good movi. But some great stunts ;) well for everyone who don't know where it is about. It is about a man who suffers from amnesia, so he doesn't know who he is (poor him). Well he founds out he is a secret agent trained to kill.
EDIT:
Ow last night I watched minority Report ;) nive movie
By the way a saw a short intro of resident evil....men that movie ROCKS!!! Really creepy and stuff. Ow well I think Doom would be a great movie to :P
Denden666Piek - October 31, 2005 03:00 PM (GMT)
Wazzupdude, Resident Evil is a crappy action-movie that has got nothing to do with the excellent horror in the gameseries and it's only fun to watch how horrible special effects are and see people being sliced up by lasers, that's about it. And don't even get me started with Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse, even worse...Resident Evil deserved better than these movies.
If you want to see a good zombiemovie, I recommend Dawn of the Dead(the '78 and 2004 version, both are very good), Night of the Living Dead('67 or '90 version) and Day of the Dead. Zombie 2 and Land of the Dead are also enjoyable. Zombie 2 has one of the grossest scenes I have ever seen.
I have seen Scream 2 last night. I like the Scream movies, they're an interesting watch for all slashermovie-lovers and they're funny.
Wazzupdude - November 2, 2005 01:17 PM (GMT)
ow ok Resident evil LOOKED like a great movie, but I never played the games :P To scary for me ;) But if only the graphics are good....well...I didn't watched it anyway :P
The_Evil_Reaper - November 2, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
Man, I even got scared in Halo, that's why I will probably be scared to death by DOOM3, but I wanna buy it anyway :P.
Wazzupdude - November 3, 2005 12:32 PM (GMT)
I've watched Resident Evil on the Cube....the first level was freaky....I even got scared in Timespliters....not really scared, but you know...creepy music...zombies...room where everything moves in...ehm never mind :P
Denden666Piek - November 3, 2005 01:01 PM (GMT)
That's nice, RE is really scary, but back on-topic now.
I'm watching the X-Men 2. Today I saw the first half, and tomorrow I'm going to see the second half. It's my own way of having a little relaxation before going to school in the mornings, see a part of a movie. X-Men 2 is a really good movie, one of the best superhero-movies out there. Better than Spider-Man even.
Wazzupdude - November 3, 2005 01:25 PM (GMT)
is it better then X-men, because I watched X-men => really liked that movie :P

Erm...well, I can't choose really. Both movies were so good, but if you liked X-Men, you will DEFINITELY like X-Men 2.
Wazzupdude - November 6, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
ow ok thnx for your opinion Denden ;) , By the way did anyone watched "28 hours later"
Ow and I wondered if someone has seen fahrenheit 117 (some numbers after it :P ) from micheal moore. It was a funny film :P
Ralexand - November 6, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
I have Fahrenheit 9/11 on DvD, i want to watch it today :D

I dunno, it will be 10 euros instead of 8.50. And I really want to save my money for something else...
Hahaha, just kidding. I wouldn't want to miss this movie for the world. I'm a fan of Peter Jackson, and not only because of Lord of the Rings...Oh, that reminds me to ask Peter Jackson movies for Christmas.
King Kong is going to be a cinematic masterpiece, it's Peter Jackson's dream come true!
Movies I've seen recently:
One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. Seen it for the first time, I am ashamed I haven't seen it earlier. It was incredible, Jack Nicholson is such an amazing actor.
The Incredibles. I just need to see a Pixar film every once in a while, they keep me happy.
Toy Story 2, along with A Bug's Life the funniest Pixar film IMO.
The Pianist. VERY beautiful and impressive WWII-movie. Adrien Brody is a great actor.
The Jacket. Again, Adrien Brody rulez! The story is very unbelievable, but the good acting saves the movie. Oh, and Keira Knightley does too. :D
The Hot Chick. Wow, Rob Schneider was actually funny this time!
M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. I still don't care what everyone thinks. I think the Village was a beautiful-looking original movie with suspension, great acting(Adrien Brody again)and a really nice lovestory as well. The conversations between Lucius and Ivy are so good, they make the lovestory really work for me, no matter how much it doesn't resemble a lovestory like they show in countless of other movies(always with a bedscene of course). I just can't get enough of this movie.
Wazzupdude - November 12, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
I watched Robinson Crusoe yesterday...
And a part of Alien, but I don't like to watch Horror alone :( And besides that I don't like horror that much, just give me comedy :P .
Denden666Piek - November 12, 2005 11:41 AM (GMT)
I watched Flighplan yesterday. It's okay, nothing groundbreaking or anything.

I wanted to see Alien, but I have already seen it(and the three sequels)numerous times. I have the most holy DVD-box Alien Quadrilogy, with director's cuts and everything. I consider Alien and Alien 3 two of the best horrormovies in existence, and part 2 is one of the best and most thrilling action-movies. Part 4...erm...just looks good.
Wazzupdude - November 12, 2005 02:10 PM (GMT)
I only saw part 4 complete...it was...well...if the rest was like that.... I surely wouldn't watch those :P Ow and I've seen Alien VS Predator, that movie was crap...I didn't liked the ending of the movie.
hehe :P

Anyone else besides me like battlefield earth?
Wazzupdude - November 13, 2005 08:25 AM (GMT)
I don't know the movie .... :( Where is it about?
The_Evil_Reaper - November 13, 2005 01:43 PM (GMT)
Battlefield earth got bad reviews right? Probably the reason why I never watched it.
I saw (a large part of) a movie called: "the third wheel" (if i'm not mistaking) yesterday.
This movie had a character in it who was brilliant, it was (ugly?) Phil the bum! :P Man this dude was hilarious, you guys really should see the movie :P
Denden666Piek - November 13, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
I saw Michel Vaillant this saturday, and I thought it was a stylish movie. It's about some dude who participates in Le Mans 24, but since it's a comicbook-adaption, the storyline is a bit exaggerated.

I think I'll see that movie some day, just to see how horrible it really is. Who knows, maybe I'll like it.
I'm watching Serenity(this morning the first half, tomorrow the second), and it's a really great Science-Fiction. I have never seen the tv-series it's based on: Firefly, but the movie is pretty good. But it's easy to see the actors are tv-actors, but that's part of the fun.
G.A.Pster - November 15, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
Battlefield Earth is a good movie.
Denden666Piek - November 17, 2005 12:24 AM (GMT)
I highly recommend to everyone who's into science-fiction, to watch Serenity. Then you'll see that Star Wars Episode III and A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy are most certainly not the only great sci-fi movies this year. Serenity is entirely different from any science-fiction movie I ever watched, and the fact that it was based on a tv-series(Firefly) could have played some part in that. The actors are good for tv-actors, they do their job well. More than in most other sci-fi movies, these are really characters you can relate to. You don't have to have seen the tv-series Firefly to understand the story of this movie(I haven't and I understood everything perfectly). The story is really adventurous and it contains a very shocking twist at the end. The movie isn't overly serious though, and the humour is much better than in the last Star Wars-movie. The special effects are really something, wow! I wouldn't have expected a movie like this would have had special effects that come pretty close to the special effects seen in Star Wars, and that's a huge compliment. The best thing is, that they don't have any CGI-characters walking around in this movie, detracting from the illusion you're in another world, like George Lucas did in SWIII unfortunately. Sci-fi fans, Serenity is a must-see!
:alexajade:
G.A.Pster - November 17, 2005 08:00 AM (GMT)
Yeah I saw serenity too it’s excellent, the TV series (firefly) was good too.
Hraesvelgr - November 18, 2005 05:32 AM (GMT)
Ugh! I hated Star Wars Eps. III ... it was so wrong...
Although, I totally loved Serenity! Now that was a great movie! I had never seen the TV show before, and the actors were totally Hollywood-worthy, as was the score and that fantabulous writing. Boy could it make me laugh! And, worry a lot about the characters, too. The cinematography was incredible, too. There was this one great shot towards the end... you know the one, where the door opens and that kid is just standing there and it's just so cool! I loved that shot.
Oh, and Battlefield Earth was really downed on because it was based off of a book written by the founder of some uber obscure church that isn't very popular. John Travolta was a member of that church and agreed to play the lead based on that. They also made some really obvious mistakes like having people sit around campfires in a flameable atmosphere that really should have burst into flames upon contact with even the slightest spark.
That being said, I found Battlefield Earth to be a slightly entertaining movie, though worth seeing only once. Mostly because I thought the main character was uninspired and it had poor dialogue.
Wow, I talk long time. But, seeing as how this is my first post ever on the actual Revolution forums, I suppose that it's forgiveable. I've been a member for at least a month, but haven't had anything useful to say until now... heh heh.
G.A.Pster - November 18, 2005 08:23 AM (GMT)
Yeah the “church” of Scientology
linky"have characterized the Church as an unscrupulous commercial organization,"" and it is often described as a cult that harasses critics and exploits its members."
"The Church of Scientology has been, and remains, a controversial organization. Different countries have taken markedly different approaches to Scientology. In the United States, Scientology declares itself to be a religion and regularly cites religious protection under the First Amendment. In Canada the Church of Scientology is legal, but has the unique distinction of being criminally convicted as a corporation on two counts of breach of the public trust (for an organized conspiracy to break into government offices) following a trial by jury.
Other countries, notably in Europe, have regarded Scientology as a potentially dangerous cult and have significantly restricted its activities at various times, or at least have not considered the branches of the Church of Scientology to meet the legal criteria for being considered religion-supporting organizations. In Germany, for instance, Scientology is not seen as a religion by the government, but as a commercial business with potentially anti-democratic tendencies, and has been subjected to state surveillance as a result. The United Kingdom government does not recognize Scientology as a bona fide religion, and it has been subjected to considerable pressure from the state in Russia.
Scientology has also been the focus of criticism by anti-cult campaigners and has aroused controversy for its high-profile campaigns against psychiatry and psychiatric medication."

I saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose last night. It was fokkin scary, I can tell you that. I couldn't sleep for half an hour in bed after watching that. I was seriously freaked out by it. But it could also have been due to scary stories earlier that day, but I'm not going to talk about that. Anyway, anyone who wants to be scared AND who wants a good story, watch this movie.
Chocho - December 3, 2005 01:53 PM (GMT)
I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at thursday. We were three, me and too friends of mine. You have to know thety didn't read any of the books not like me, so I was the only one of them, who can call a "fan" himself.
When the film began I thougt this will be the best HP film (exspecialy after the crappy Prisorner of Azkaban). The feeling was amazing and the grate start with the Riddle house was also the best HP film start we could see. But what after that came... Well, I don't want to hurt the film or the director because I can imagne how hard could be make a 2h long film from a 650 sites long book, but if you are a grate fan then I think you won't like it. The seeing is amazing, all the creatures and stuffs looks like in the book, but the story is sic.
Anyway if you did not read the book, you will enjoy it, just like my friends. And thats why I have to say that this is not a bad film.
G.A.Pster - December 4, 2005 09:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah I read the books……..by “the story is sic” do you mean the story is not very good, or slang sick meaning cool (good)?
