Title: As Depressing As It Is...
Description: ...

We will probably never see a sequal to BG&E. This game has a great fanbase, which it truly deserves, but the game itself (despite brilliant reviews) was sadly overlooked.
I guess we're entering the period of "mainstream gaming", where the truly great games are destined to fail, and only games with a movie license or famous actors involved will succeed.

I'm all for trying though!

Beyond good and evil, I can't say i've ever had the pleasure.. lol. Seriously, I've never heard of this game before. Where can I get a copy?
Secundo - January 10, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
You can still find this game at EB Games. So, I wouldn't worry about looking for used copies just yet. Pick this game up, new or used, it is definatly worh getting.
Also, out mission here primarily to spread the word of the game. If we can even invrease the popularity of this game this woth it. Getting a sequel is a long shot but, at least I'm willing to try. But, a sequel is not our main goal. We set our sites on the people not a company. We wuld rather persuade the people then possible have that large number of people persuade the company. For now, we want to spread the word. Get people interested

Yeah, BG&E is a great game! In fact, I'm telling my friends all about it and for some, even getting it for them as a present :D

See, our mission here is primarily to spread the word of the game. If we can increase the popularity of this game then, uh, oh wait. Secundo covered that for me. Ha, what am I doing here? :D
And presents are good, if people haven't heard of this game they're far more reluctant to go on the hunt for it. Brilliant idea of Ubisoft's, putting it out of print. >_<
Although, as far as I know it's only out of print for the Gamecube. Are they still making new games for other consoles?

Opinions. And the bandwagon. I semi-blame it all. Whereareas some people like it, they just get drowned by the mainstream hype, so they jump in and then...you know what happens.
But for me, its just like Drakan for ps2. Only that BG&E has at least some hope of a sequel. Both of these games were/ still is overlooked. Music-wise and ambiance-wise i liked (and still likes) it a lot. It may bit a bit SFnish but absolutely, pleasantly unique.
Glad to join this board. : )

Joe some guy on Gamefaqs said the same thing in the message boards.(Gamefaq message boards is great, you guys should join.)In my opinion the ONLY thing that made the sales go bad was the release of Prince of persia:sands of time in the same month.Don't you think so? Oh and BGE french version did have the voice of a famous actress for Jade.
Secundo - January 12, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
I agre with that bit about game faqs!
And, I do think that other game releases that came out at the same time did hurt the over all sales. But, a key reason is because of the lack o hype. Before I get started I'll just sumarize and say that it failed miserably in its advertising.

Also the fact that it was a niche game that was released during the holidays. Terrible, terrible marketing decision, it was just so sadly overlooked.

I'm thinking of trying to get the French version someday, just to see what it's like. See if Michael Ancel works better with his own language. :P (though I can't imagine it getting better)
Domz - January 12, 2005 08:49 AM (GMT)
French version...really? :o Wow! *starts hunting for copies* umm..is it a whole lot different cd from just changing the language at the start?
Shauni - January 12, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)
I've got a copy which has got 5 languages in one, I don't know if there's an independent french one.Heck,I thought all copies had multiple languages!
French version info:Secundo's terribly funny!!! You can buy a copy just to get a good laugh. Jade's voice acting is totally different. She talks like a weak girl, nothing of the confidence she has in english versions.Apart from that the script is less good(apart,of course, for secundo.)One piece of advice:if you want the french version, buy the multiple language one.It has got english, french, nederland, italian+another weird language. The best thing about it:the game's fully translated!Right down to textures!(EX:'For Jade' on the Mdisk is written 'Pour Jade' in French.)Oh, and don't worry there's still all the music and all if you're worried about the game missing something.Hey,I agree with you guys,Secundo and Pey'j.Hey Domz,in the multiple language copy you get to choose language every single time you start the game.In my opinion multiple language is the European copy....I dunno for sure.
Domz - January 12, 2005 05:22 PM (GMT)
Thanks Shauni! :D So it seems that my copy is the european ver then. I get to choose the languages at the beginning. Too bad i dont know French, even a bit. :(
Maybe il try play again in French to find the descrepancies.
Shauni - January 13, 2005 09:23 AM (GMT)
I warn you..only and ONLY the language is changed. No changes to the game. In case you wanna know: the name of the actress doing Jade's voice is Emma De Caune(I don't know if I spelled it correctly)
IRIS - January 14, 2005 02:09 PM (GMT)
The name of the actress is Emma de Caunes. Her voice is 'weaker' than that of the English voice actor, you're right Shauni.
