Description: buttons, buttons, who's got te buttons?

Secundo - February 5, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
AS you may have noticed the forum buttons have been given a MUCH needed face list by your truly.

IF you have a beef with them, think you can so it better, think they look like roadkill, or liked the lime green ones better, feel free to say otherwise...

Now the main reason for this topic...

What OTHER things would you like to see "face lifted" so to speak? If anything at all. Even if it is something small and otherwise insignificant (That makes my job easier...) just throw it out there. I want these forums to reek of personal images so please speak up!

Hraesvelgr - February 5, 2006 07:11 AM (GMT)
My horrendously insignificant but still mildly relevant suggestion is this:

Would it be possible to space out the Affiliate and Mascot pics in the scrolls at the bottom of the site? Those two bars, while a simply great touch, look rather meak as is and proclaim this to be a small site run by dreamers. Bluntly said, but totally serious. Thus is my opinion.

And by the way, great job with the new buttons. I love 'em. ^_^

The_Evil_Reaper - February 5, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
I love the New buttons, much better than the old ones :D

Secundo - February 5, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)
Alright, I'll work on spacing them out...

And sence I always HAVE to go over the top I'll try to get bgekk to give us a smaller affiliate box, so we have a uniform size.

Any other advise is quite welcome so keep em coming (Unless you think the site is perfect as is)!

I'll get started making a "cool looking" affiliate box!

Denden666Piek - February 5, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
Those buttons are totally cool, nothing wrong with them. I agree on the affiliate box and mascots box thing at the bottom looking rather unorganiosed and stuff. You should definitely make it look more nice. The truth is, all my HTML is copied from bits and pieces I've picked up all over the internet, so it's no surprise it looks so sloppy. Thank god you came, Secundo!

Secundo - February 6, 2006 02:12 AM (GMT)
haha! I'm looking for a total re-haul of the bottom portion of the site. A message box that:

A: Doesn't suddenly STOP working
B: Is more uniform with the site.

The affiliates box will "fade in/fade out" affiliate after affiliate. and the mascots... they'll have a new special little "box" (... yeah "box")

EDIT:

Affiliate box... I like this one design better as opposed to the very repetetive, "fade in" I was working on. I prefer this new scroll down with less affiliates showing. HOWEVER... I CAN also scroll the affiliates but that kinda defeats the purpose...

G.A.Pster - February 6, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
I really like post reply and new topic etc buttons but I don’t like the ones like quote, profile, PM etc, IMO they should look more like the post reply and new topic buttons.

Secundo - February 6, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
Well I guess I could...

user posted image

My design concept was big buttons one way, and small buttons another...

Honestly, I never even thought to make them the same style. I really dislike arguing when I clearly said I wanted opinions so I won't :P

Thanks for the feedback, I've considered it! And don't be afraid to speak up. Maybe I'm not seeing something. If you think the small buttons would be better as clones of the bigger ones just pipe up! If enough people say then I'm forced to respond :)

"Next!"

Denden666Piek - February 6, 2006 03:18 PM (GMT)
You could make the word "affiliate" a lighter colour, I can hardly read it when it's black on dark green. As I said before, I'm totally happy with the buttons as they are now, they make everything look a lot happier with the little pics added to it. And happy is what we are, happy to be part of the Revolution.

Well I don’t think a clone would be good either, but these rounded buttons just don’t look as cool IMO, they look more like something you’d find on Win XP.

Hraesvelgr - February 8, 2006 06:37 AM (GMT)
I really rather like the buttons just like they are. Only have one thing: would it be too much to add a little colour to this site? Yes, I love the colour green more than anything and I know green is a prominent colour in BGE... but there is a question as far as how much even I can stand, much less a potential revolutionary who hates this colour.

And I don't just mean more contrast between our shades of green... I mean actual different colours, even if they are in a greenish hue.

Of course, I'm open to the fact that y'all think this is a stupid idea. Just say so if ya do, and I'll respect that. Still, sooo much GREEN!

Well really in BG&E it’s not all green and all of the iris stuff is red.
We should experiment with a few different colors foe things.

And just curious are you Canadian (noticed you said colour instead of color)

Secundo - February 8, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
I totally here ya. I would design a new Style sheet for the site myself. But I'm working on the choice... Website vs Forums

I decided to make a few buttons and "tidy up" the forum we have now, but not spend a week redoing every last button, banner, and code.

HOWEVER, this forum WON'T be invisionfree, I have a WIDELY used code (VG) to use. It's "free" per-say in the fact that it is open source. I can modify how I see fit and it'll be hosted with the website. It'll be similar, but vastly different in all the things that well... I find rather annoying...

So fear not, GREEN may be similar to "jade" but that doesn't mean that it'll be used like this forum in the actual site or the new forums.

No, that's just how I spell it.

And thanks for the hope, Secundo. That's good enough for me.

Secundo - February 8, 2006 07:09 AM (GMT)
Woah, that sounds a little... desprate... clearly SOMEBODY'S sick of green...

"Oh.. oh.. thank you for promising NO GREENN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" *pulls out hair and runs out of room screaming*

WELL... maybe not THAT desprate... (Besides no one ELSE would do that...)

Ralexand - February 8, 2006 11:51 AM (GMT)
I hope I mis-read that. You want to make another forum? Pls no, this forum must stay! It's a great forum and I like the style a lot. We should make this board as a board for our website.

FutureFish - February 8, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
I am thoroughly sick of the current banner. Im sorry, but if Writing the works of shakespeare took a Million Monkeys and a Million years, then this banner was a Ten Minute Ten Monkey job with a lack of bananas. Im gonna work on a new one over half term probs.

Denden666Piek - February 8, 2006 05:38 PM (GMT)
This forum should definitely stay, but a skin overhaul wouldn't hurt.

Secundo - February 8, 2006 06:12 PM (GMT)
Yall; IT would be quite impractical to keep our forum invisionfree...

not ONLY would we pay for our domain space, but we also would be paying for Invisionfree to host this forum...

I'm not sure but last I checked our treasurey read $0.00 so I can't see how spending extra oney to keep this forum alive is the right idea... BUT (there's always a but with my statments...)

I suppose I'm out voted. So, I guess I keep them, pay to get the banner ads off and a name change to like, beyondgoodevil.com/forums AND do a redesign AND make new buttons AND make a new banner AND wire it into the main site AND... and .. and...

Are you sure you won't reconsider? Invisionfree is just SO limited... Oh well, I guess... yall are too attached... I'll add this to my "things to keep jammed in the back of my head" list.

Ralexand - February 8, 2006 06:24 PM (GMT)
Sry, but his board must stay!!!! And btw, i thought, this board is free :o

Secundo - February 8, 2006 06:31 PM (GMT)
yes this board is free as is... but if we get a website, we'd have to pay to have the banners removed from this site.. and for a new domain name since I'm not keeping it this long after we get a website... now NOBODY say the banners can stay...

Or else I'll put banners on the Revolution website, why? to help pay our expenses through the LITTLE revenue they generate...

Seriously, I'll keep it since well.. this is touching.... yall act as if you're losing your right arm or something...

Ralexand - February 8, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
This board is our life :P

Anyway, the forum must stay :P

and btw, which banner?

Secundo - February 8, 2006 06:35 PM (GMT)
The "ads by google" we coe here often and don't even notice it... but trust me... new members see the tacky URL, dark colors, and ad, and well... x out.

That's why I still want yall to reconider... it money... and that's a big issue...

Ralexand - February 8, 2006 06:39 PM (GMT)
omg, that banner.... .

I'm sure, that the people'll accept it. And many big HPs and Boards have ads....

Secundo - February 8, 2006 06:45 PM (GMT)
If we have a banner ad on our site it might as well be bringing US money... I mean why not? Why turn down FREE money?

BUT it's decided. I'll keep this board. I don't now who'll handle the financial brunt of it... (actually I do... ;) ) But this board will stay.

Ralexand - February 8, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
I would pay a little amount, if you really want to delete the ads...

Denden666Piek - February 8, 2006 07:04 PM (GMT)
I'm willing to pay an amount of 50 euro or so when I got that Paypal figured out. About the forum, it has a history of a year. Yes, I've grown attached to it, it would indeed kill me to see all the topics lost. The ads can be removed and the domain name can be changed. I don't know about limitations, but I think that for a forum there are enough possibilities to make this forum worthy of a professional BG&E community. I'll wait and see what still others think about this matter, but I vote for keeping this forum and its topics. New members will immediately see that this community is quite active.

FutureFish - February 8, 2006 09:58 PM (GMT)
This forum stays until the site is fully functional at 110%. We can use google ads on here to pay for the sites upkeep while its in construction, then the site gets launched, we all emigrate to the new site forum, and fingers crossed the revolution gets into megamonkey mode. ATM, this forum stays, but its not immortal - its functional at worst, chatty at best. Its NOT up to the standard of bringing in random peeps. It just isnt good/busy enough.

Secundo - February 9, 2006 04:42 AM (GMT)
Well it's still 3-2 in favor of keeping the site. No decision made now though...

G.A.Pster - February 9, 2006 10:08 AM (GMT)
Honestly some advertising banners are fine, it’d be a very stupid move IMO to get a premier forum that we have to pay for, when this one works great.

All game forums have advertising just look at gamespy people are used to them.

No, that's just how I spell it.

It really is a better spelling IMO.

FutureFish - February 9, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
......... huh...

What are we meant to be talking about agen?? o_o

Denden666Piek - February 10, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
Well, not about spelling, that's for sure.

The_Evil_Reaper - February 10, 2006 07:10 PM (GMT)
It was about buttons. Speaking of which, the CLOSED button looks stupid because it's still the old button. Just thought I'd let you know ;)

Secundo - February 10, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
AAHHHHHH! Actually there's a reason it, the yahoo, and ICQ buttons are the old one. I designed them with photoshop on a cpu I get access to on the weekends. So, I missed them but they should be done, this weekend!

The_Evil_Reaper - February 11, 2006 08:21 PM (GMT)
Haven't noticed that, but I'm glad you're gonna chang them to. ^_^ I'm glad we have another active admin, it really benefits the forum :D

Denden666Piek - February 11, 2006 08:30 PM (GMT)
Having this many admins around makes the job a lot easier, believe me. That's a good thing too, since the forum is getting more active. I don't know if others have noticed, I know Phil has.

The_Evil_Reaper - February 11, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but that means Phil will be less active, because he thinks it's to active... But we don't want Phil to leave :'(

ssj4_Gogeta - February 18, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
who exactly do you mean by 'we'?

btw, 6 members active right now...that's still not a whole lot.

oh and I can't find the forum by typing 'BG&E forum' in google anymore...that's kind of a drawback.

Denden666Piek - February 18, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
The Revolution is still developing, we've only just begun designing the site. The BG&E Revolution will be known!
