Title: Job Assignments
Description: Sign on up to help with the site!
Secundo - February 24, 2006 07:02 AM (GMT)
Calling everybody who wants to help the Revolution!
This is the sign up sheet for everyone that wants to help out with the Revolutions website project. There are basically three parts to a website, the writers (What you’re there for), the artists (what you see), and the coders (what you don’t see). To sign up I’d like you to “fill out this” I know it sounds cheesy, but the questions are relevant to how much work you are asked to help with.
First I’ll explain the roles of everyone that will help make the site a reality:
Note: this is a long post, if you don’t want to read a lot you can skip down to the next dotted line. Although it is recommended you at least read the section you are signing up for!
---------------------------------------------
Writers
The writer’s will write the main content of the site, everything from walkthrough to the welcome message. If it displays as a font on the screen then the writer’s will write it. The workload is light. This is simple to do and almost anyone can do it. If you can speak English (and maybe if you can’t!) you can help write the content. You’ll be assigned what to write according to the amount of time you have, and simply what YOU want to do! There are no surprises here, just writing. Don’t be ashamed to sign up here if you can’t be useful elsewhere because this is where we need the most help.
Artists
The title artist doesn’t really suit this section; because, if you can copy and paste and have access to a program similar to MS paint you can create some of the simple images that will be used in the site. Everything from shadows to logos are made right here. If you are good with Paint Shop Pro, the GIMP, or Adobe’s Photoshop, then you will be invaluable here. Work load is varied. If you have a lot of time, and are fairly gifted as a graphic designer then you may want to really help the Revolution and take on a heavy workload. But, if you like image editing, don’t consider yourself a good writer, or a coder then sign up here to accumulate screen captures and other images that will be splashed throughout the site.
Coders
Ah, the under appreciated occupation. The coder handle mostly the gritty behind the scenes stuff meaning the raw HTML code, Java, Flash, php, sql, and other coding languages. Whether you are a seasoned HTML slinger that can type out HTML faster than you can say “draw,” or someone that only as access to Microsoft frontpage, or dreamweaver, then this is the place to be. Only a few slots are truly necessary but the work is moderate to heavy. Unless you use a WYSIWYG program like dreamweaver, then it can be light to moderate and you can transfer pages. Coder’s will be a tight bunch and share a lot of ideas and data. The worklad will be heavy, but will also be done the fastest once it is out of the way.
------------------------------------
Now that you are eager to start typing and doing you thing here is the “form” to sign up:
-------------------------------------
Section: (Writer, Artist, Coder)
Time: (Light –less than an hour, Moderate-one hour to two, Heavy-more than two hours)
Day: (Weekends, 1, 2, 3… days a week, etc)
Skill: (Beginner, Novice, Expert, Pro)
------------------------------------
Well, sign on up! The form is just a starting block, if you are multi talented feel free to say so if you want to work in two areas. As a warning don’t bite off more than you can chew. I’d rather be understaffed and over worked but knowing what to expect, than over staffed and having to guess who is doing what, and if they will get it done.
As a final note, I need one, maybe two “Section leaders” that can organize, and collectively submit the content that their team has developed. It’s up to them to decide just how everything gets done. I’ll have “skeleton” that I need every section to fill in, so don’t think I’m leaving you out on a limb. I’ll be working all three as a “supervisor” so I would prefer it is I didn’t have to be a section leader as well. By “supervisor” I mean, I’ll be working hard on all prtions of the site, and have collective knowledge just to hold the trifecta of design teams together.
Alright! Let’s see if the Revolution can put there actions to what their words are! Let’s buckle down and get ready, because we’re in for quite a ride!

Section: Artist
Time: Moderate
Day: Weekends
Skill: ummmm novice I think :aww:
Denden666Piek - February 24, 2006 10:38 AM (GMT)
Section: Writer
Time: Light/Moderate-one hour to two
Day: Friday and Saturday I'm available for "Moderate" work or perhaps more. The rest of the week it really depends on the amount of homework, but I think that most of the time I can do "Light" work from Monday to Thursday. Sunday is too uncertain to do any work.
Skill: Novice. I'd say. Not exceptionally skilled at English or writing. But I take pleasure from both so that helps.
Of course unexpected things always come up, but I'll do my best to keep up. I'm online almost every day so you can almost always contact me for my availability. But I'll be forumming a lot less of course, I have to make "sacrifices" if I am to help and reach a certain goal. I'm not good at organising at all, but I'm willing to take the part of Section Leader of the writing parts that is IF no one else wnats to do it. But I think it's best if someone else signs up for that position.
Ralexand - February 24, 2006 11:36 AM (GMT)
I would sign up for the screenshot section :P.
And... at any time...to translate the page into German ;)
Section: Writer (translation), artist (screenshots)
Time: Moderate-one hour to two
Day: Mostly weekend, but i have my intermediate examination soon :(
Skill: Screenshot... EXPERT :P....and translation into german.... I don't want to say expert....but novice is too bad because German is my mother tongue...
JerichoMccoy - February 24, 2006 02:36 PM (GMT)
Section: Writer/Coder
Time: Moderate to Heavy (Amazing with my College schedule, no?)
Day: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday(Its a Wildcard day)
Skill: Coder - Beginner, Writer - Expert
For Coder - I have the program Dreamweaver MX 2004 and have been wondering how to use the darn thing for ages. Now, I'll have that chance. Coarse, it's going to take me awhile, but once I get the gist of things(And follow that huge manual I bought), things shall be easy to contend with.
For Writer - I completed College Coarses English 121, 122, and was in Intro To Journalism for Three weeks(Had to get out cause weekly stories was cutting into my 'time'). I've written a bunch of Fan-Fics(Started but never finished..) and am eager to give a professional written layout for the viewer to understand and contemplate.
The_Evil_Reaper - February 24, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
Great I'll sign up right away.
Section: All three :D
Time: Light/Moderate it varies from time to time, just ask me when you need me.
Day: Tuesday, Wednesday, Weekends.
Skill: Artist: Novice, Writer: Novice, Coder: beginner/novice
Artist: I don't have great artworks, but I'm willing to work for it, and sometimes something great just might pop out.
Writer: I'm pretty good in English, my writing is considered well :D. I'm not a great story teller or anything, but I can be funny and serious.
Coder: I'm a Basic Expert/Pro, I can program almost anything in Basic. I'm a Java Novice, but I haven't done it in a while. But I just might be able to boost that skills. Sql is my last and final language, which I'm am a novice in as well.
It would be nice to not get work for all three, I'm just showing that I'm flexibel.
And Denden you are so an expert on writing dude :o
Secundo - February 24, 2006 06:48 PM (GMT)
Denden, I'd think you'd be fine leader for the writers. I had a few people in mind and you were one of them! If any one else wants to possibley lead then just say so and step up to the plate!
Basically by "leading" I'm just asking for you to not only help in the section but pull two extra (but simple) duties. You'll have to "submit" work that has been completed. I'll give you a "skeleton to fill" and you'll assign, however you want, people to help you "fill the skeleton." Then it's your job to sbmit it, and make sure that each individual either gets it done, or re-asigned to someone who can. It's fairly simple and it is just a way to stay organized is all. All that is really required is to be a semi-active board user (at least for the next 3 weeks).
I'll explain more later about both the leaders and the helpers, trust me, I'm not going to overload anybody beyond what they can bear. It'll be light, simple, and fairly easy (maybe even fun!).
Also, I don't want to build a site and return to dead forums! So please continue to post, maybe as your working (as I did while making the mock up). When you get tired or bored and need a break, go ahead and post. Don't view this as something you have to do... Make it something you get to do for the community!
Thank you all for signing up, I'm already thinking of the best ways to make use of yall! I'm happy that we have a good distripution so far of tasks. A few coders, artists, and a few more writers. Exactly the balance I was hoping for! Hopefully, since the sign ups are being held over a weekend everyone will get a chance to sign up. But if you do get here late, feel free to sign up as well!
JFSOCC - February 24, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Section: Writer
Time: unknown- i'm going to australia for a year, so basicly, i will have time, but it will be erraticly. right now i have more than too much.
Day: see above.
Skill: novice to expert. i'll enjoy working on the walkthrough(and thus playing the game again) working on text layout (used to be final editor for a smalltime local goverment supported magazine) editing out spelling errors, making sentences more fluid etc.
small text messages is also my thing(like the mouse overs)
since i have great bullshitting talent, i'd like to help in any newsletters before they are sent.
if i get more time i'd like to help with content management&creation.
maybe help with a faq.
i do believe i work most reliable freelance (give me an assignment, and then i'l do it)

Denden666Piek - February 24, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
I'm no leader, but I'm always up for a challenge. And don't worry, I'll continue to post. I've come a long way from the time before the Resurrection, when I cared more about the BG&E movie and the movieforum. This time, the Revolution and the BG&E community in general is all I care about when I'm online.

Is it an evil twin?
I sure hope we get more Coders, we need some!
mtvcdm - February 24, 2006 11:08 PM (GMT)
I can do some of the writing, but can't do very much- I have a bunch of college stuff, plus a best man speech for a wedding coming up in less than a month.
Pretty much the recap I've got going. I'll keep working on that any time I get the chance. (And trust me, this thing is getting on the huge side- I'm about to enter the slaughterhouse and I'm up past 26,000 words. When everything's all set up, might be a good idea to split it into 'episodes'.)
daidalos - February 24, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
Well, I do not exactly know how I would be able to help, but in case you need me, I can do what I can.
Section: Writer
Time: On a weekday except Monday and Wednesday I can do light to moderaet work - that means 1 hour or so. On weekends I can work for about 1-2 hours. Sometimes, when I have nothing to do, I could work more, but then there are days where I have to do homework and learn for a test so I may only have less than an hour.
Skill: I can translate things from english into german and back, in case you´ll want to have a german version. I would say my skill in this area is novice and I dare not to say that I´d be an expert. Already worked for some months on another fan page about Star Wars - that´s my experience.
And then the coding. I´d say I´m an html novice. I write most of the code in the notepad and use Dreamweaver mostly only to make tables. Made the one or the other page but most of them looked horrible - maybe because I was not able to make a real because I just can´t do any graphics.
I´ll probably get my hands on perl in the next days - people say it´s not a difficult language, might just come in handy.

Skill: I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I'm no novice.
*Also, it seems we may need more writers.

This is a great turn out! Although we do need more coders! I know a bit about HTML (ok, I'm being a LITTLE modest  ) and at the moment it looks like I'll be helping out in that section as well!
Also, if anyone wants to step up and be the one that submits and semi-organises then please volunteer. f you don't, I might just choose who I want myself... :sinister:

Secundo - February 26, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
Well if Jericho doesn't want to lead then I'll lead art, and if Ugly Phil wants to Lead then I'll lead coding. I'll just see how it goes!
Denden, later I'll be PMíng you a short list of what you need to do (3 things).
Denden666Piek - February 26, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)

Time: difficult to say, it varies throughout the week... oh, what the heck, lets go for heavy but i promise nothing!
Day: the whole week, pretty much... my gf demands a lot of time from me, as do other things such as chores, my PC, projects and whatnot, but i have a lot of the day free so i'll say heavy for the time being.
Skill: Writer - Novice, Artist - Beginner
Writing: well, writing is something i fluent with, i just set out doing something and stuff comes into my head, i hardly think about it. So pretty much anything to do with writing i'd be capable with.
Artist: Yeah, i have no skills or anything, but i can do the kinda stuff that skulks around the Fanart threads as you know, and i could be useful for little things so what the hey, i'll put it down and see what i get. Oh, i'll be getting chalks and pastels soon which will hopefully make my artistic range a little greater, so that's kinda looking to the future.
