Lets do some demographics :)
Denden666Piek - March 13, 2006 01:24 PM (GMT)
I'm 19, I'm surprised by your age. I think you are by far the oldest member here.
alxs - March 13, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
And that’s why this project is so slow :)
We need more adult people to join - they usually more capable. I don’t have anything against teenagers, no offence, but... well... we need more pro’s :)

Denden666Piek - March 13, 2006 02:06 PM (GMT)
I think it would come in handy if there are more adult people here, people who don't get drowned in schoolwork and studying. But for now I'm already used to the idea that everything goes very slow around here.
Alexa - March 13, 2006 02:12 PM (GMT)
14 and after 25th of August,15...
14 sucks... :P
alxs - March 13, 2006 03:01 PM (GMT)
Alexa, are you really 14??? My gosh, twice younger than me... I would never suspected :) I wish I could be so creative in my 14 :)
Ralexand - March 13, 2006 03:07 PM (GMT)
Fomorian - March 13, 2006 03:11 PM (GMT)
Me too, Ralexand, me too...
Alexa - March 13, 2006 03:15 PM (GMT)
Hey,you guys are at the same age as my b( r )other... :P
Phew,Chopin was very creative in age of 7... :P
Fomorian - March 13, 2006 03:18 PM (GMT)
Alexa - March 13, 2006 03:26 PM (GMT)
And Oldfield created his first one-hour instrumental in age of 17 :P
The_Evil_Reaper - March 13, 2006 04:07 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but did it sound good? :P
Ralexand - March 13, 2006 04:08 PM (GMT)
Of course, it's Tubular Bells :P

i find that offensive.
Denden666Piek - March 13, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
He has got a point in the fact that we're rather slow. I don't know about professionality, I think people here are quite serious in what they do. Experience does help to make the Revolution more efficient. But we're already having trouble recruiting members as it is, let alone older members.
Lightweight - March 13, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
Ok, so I'm a little busy (college and all), and I have internet issues (namely, I don't have it at home), but I show face, and I want it to be known!
I want my BG&E 2!
BTW, I'm 20.

Well, sorry, but this is the truth. To be pro you need to spend at least 10 years in some area. You can start in 17 and be pro in 27. But you cannot be pro in 17 unless you have started in 7. How many Motzarts are here? :)
Plus you also simply don't have connections - all your friends are the same school boys :) When you work in the real world you meet lots and lots of interesting and capable people...
Sorry, if all this still offends you...
Denden666Piek - March 13, 2006 09:14 PM (GMT)
The truth can hurt, but we learn from it. We still need to grow and so does the community and the Revolution, and we need all the help we can get.

Then join us at the "BGE side-scroller" thread! It's pinned, you won't miss it :)
FutureFish - March 13, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
alxs, I have to say, but people I meet in real life fall under the categories of Bitches, Wankers, and People who seem nice enough but totally uninterested in anything about you.
Haw - March 13, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
I, like Alexa, am 14. High five!
FutureFish - March 13, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Lemme put it this way: I went on work experience. the office staff needed my help with desktop publishing programs and basic computer skills (Cut n paste, etc).

i have a motto, it's "judge all things seperately" that includes people. i'm not a pro in any area, i'll give you that, but i have my worth definately, and i could have been, had i been properly stimulated at a young age. i have anIQ of 161, thats 12 points more than einstein had, most of my friends are older than me, more than 30 percent of which by more than 10 years. i'm not saying this to brag, because trust me i know that IQis no guarantee for anything, i'm saying this to prove that age has nothing to do with anything, other than how people(ignorant people) view you. fact is, mozarts are out there, and i'd expect you reserve your judgement untill you have something solid to base it on, you don't want to rush to a generalisation.

I’m 16 but in 3 days I’ll be 17. ^_^
Plus - March 14, 2006 06:01 AM (GMT)
I'm 16 :P and i will be 17 on the 29th of July !!!

That's not true. There is a thing called "experience" and it is bought by time and time alone. You may be very bright but you will lack the experience... That's the difference.
Haw - March 14, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
It's not fair to judge people by age. On some forums, I've had to really work to restrain myself from constantly correcting the mistakes of 'older and wiser' people. At thirteen, judging by my score in the verbal section of the college level SAT, I had a better grasp of English than over half of college-bound Americans (scary, no?).
And I disagree that we need more adults to join. Sure, it'd be good to work with people who have had the time to really refine their art, which is what most of us here are still doing, but we don't need them. And to be fair, we don't really need connections and to know people 'in the know' if we're running a fan site and petition. And Denden's right. We just don't attract enough members to focus on trying to attract older ones.
Experience is good. But experience is being gained all the time. We're gaining some of ours here, and the site is helping to drive that. In wanting this project to do well, we're going to go right up to our limits, and start to push them. Our limits restrain us more than those of some adults, because most of us simply haven't existed long enough to push them to a professional level, but we'll get there. Eventually.

I was talking about my game idea, not about this site...
Haw - March 14, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Er...I knew that. Yeah. But I think my point still semi-stands.

I find that bragging.... <_<
Anywayz my IQ is pretty high as well, and I guess every member from another country is too, because they already posses a language other than their own. And the members, from the US and Great Britain, that I've seen, are smart guys too. I don't think intelligence is a problem here, experience might be a bigger factor, but we are willing to work on that aren't we?
10 years is definitly a long time, I mean can't you be an expert in 1-2 years? I know you can defenitly learn a programming language in that time, even though you might not be able to solve the biggest problems, you can solve most problems.
