Hello, I was just browsing YouTube after seeing that chase scene from the second game (finally a sequel!) and I stumbled across the link on a video made by Dredlock Holmes so I thought I'd register.

My name's Emma, I am 21 and I just finished my degree which is a Bachelor of Science and is in Computer Games Development. I intend to get a job once I get my final result (hope it is good I am nervous about it! :c ) I enjoy programming games and will start off in some area as a junior programmer.

I have played the original BG&E about 100 times and usually play it in a days sitting when I feel like a bit of nostalgia. I am mainly into Real Time RPG's or Adventure games like this or Zelda for example.

Anyway, hello!

Dredlock has here a nick BG&E Voyager (B-Gev in short) :)

And please, don't use the term "Adventure game", when speaking about games like Zelda, BG&E or, in example, Prince of Persia. These games are action-adventure. Adventure games are, among all, Monkey Island series, Grim Fandango, Gabriel Knight games, Leisure Suit Larry series, Syberia, The Longest Journey, The Last Express, Myst series, The Neverhood, Blade Runner and many more.

But don't mind me, I'm a purist. Welcome :)

Well I call Zelda an Adventure game because sites such as Neoseeker label it under that genre. Action-Adventure is just elaborating on the fact that is is still an "Adventure" game. That is just my opinion though and I'll probably stick to it. x3

But thanks for the welcome.

That's due to modern day terminology devaluation, done by "brilliant" marketing specialists.

Actually, it's more elaborating on the fact that it's an "action" game, in which the gamer must think more than in the regular action game :P

I swear, one day we're going to call God of War games "adventure games" :P

Well I still say it is more an elaboration of Adventure, because Zelda is much more about exploration then "Action" in its truest sense. Cannot phase my opinion on this lol so why waste the forum space debating it.

Yeah, let's stop that :P You won't convince me BG&E and Zelda are adventure games, and vice versa. So, anyway - welcome (again :P) and hope you enjoy your stay here.

(Though exploration... alright, I'll zip it :P).

Female and a programmer? Talk about your rare forum members...

[general welcome]
Anywho, Welcome! I'm Dirk(or The_Evil_Reaper, Reaper, his Reaperness or El Reaperino, which ever you prefer) and I'm 21 as well. I know a little programming myself, but further than Basic and a little understanding of JAVA and HTML, my knowlegde doesn't stretch. Besides, I study medicine, so programming skills isn't really part of the job description. But as an admin here it comes in handy.
[/general welcome]

But enough about me, this is no introduction topic for me, this one is yours. So I was wondering, where are you from exactly?

Also, I apologize for Fomorian, I thought it was a rule not to attack members after their first post <_< I'm not the one to shy away from a good discussion, but these kind of topics are meant for a general welcome, some random gift and the obvious warnings!

Here's a little piece of matrix code I had lying around, I thought you might enjoy it. Don't know what it codes for though...

Yeah, that's what we agreed upon right? Good admin, bad admin?

A little ironic that the good admin is called "The_EVIL_Reaper"

Anywho, I meant no harm, I love you man! *uncomfortable hug*

Hey, nice. I'm a programmer doing some game development myself, but it's entirely self-directed... no game development program at the university I went to. Good luck with your job!

It's true, we rarely give women that kind of power...

It's intimidating :ahh:
